Sushi is traditionally made with medium-grain white rice, though it can be prepared with brown rice or short-grain rice. It is very often prepared with seafood, such as calamari, eel, or imitation crab meat.

Makizushi is the most well-known type of sushi. Maki means ‘roll’, therefore makizushi refers to rolled sushi. The sushi rice is wrapped in nori seaweed and rolled into one large log (cylinder), and then cut into six or eight serving-size pieces. They come in four basic forms:
